Ascent Consulting offers the following diverse inspection services to meet your specific requirements:

  • Technical Audit Inspections:  Anchorage systems have become increasingly complex to adequately service today's distinctive architectural designs.  With our experience conducting audit inspections and knowledge of varied equipment types, Ascent Consulting will provide the information necessary to clarify all aspects of your Fall Protection and Suspended Access requirements.
  • Annual Inspections:  Ascent Consulting conducts regular Annual Inspections on existing Safety Systems.  Our inspections are competently performed in accordance with Ministry of Labour Regulation 859/90 (as amended by 523/92) in conjunction with (NEW) Window Cleaning Guidelines dated April 3, 2013; CSA Standard Z91-02, Health & Safety Code for Suspended Equipment Operations, and; CSA Standard CAN/CSA-Z271-10 (approved April 2011), Safety Code for Suspended Platforms.
  • Existing Systems Overview:  We conduct a thorough review of existing Safety Systems to ensure compliance with today's safety codes and regulations.  Many older Systems likely need additional equipment and our Report identifies all areas with recommended solutions.

KEY BENEFITS

  • Reliable inspection scheduling to meet your upcoming projects.
  • Logbooks are evaluated to ensure all necessary documents are available and in good order.
  • Approved drawings are carefully reviewed to ensure "As-Built" conditions.
  • Our Clients are informed on all aspects of their system design and limitations.
  • We have a vast knowledge of virtually all equipment manufacturer / supplier product lines.

Technical Audit Inspections

Our Technical Audit Inspections include a comprehensive overview and appraisal of your installed safety system.  Our analysis includes:
  • Are all anchors installed at locations identified on the approved drawings?
  • Has equipment been supplied and correctly installed per project documentation?
  • Does your Logbook contain all relevant documentation as required by the Ministry of Labour?
  • Are all restricted access areas properly identified and safety issues adequately addressed?
  • Are all windows covered for access?
  • Is balcony glass included in Window Cleaning operations?
  • Is the installed System suitable for Suspended Stage access for non-routine building facade maintenance?
  • Are there special provisions that must be employed but not identified?

Portable Rigging Equipment:  Portable devices, i.e. Davit Arms, are costly and must be properly serviced in order to maintain functional integrity.  Our Report gives you a detailed description of each device (including quantities, often not included in project documentation), and recommendations on how best to store, preserve and service the equipment.

System Approval:  Once the Audit Inspection is completed and all documentation and drawings are in order, subsequent Annual Inspections will focus only on compliance with updated standards / guidelines and equipment integrity.

Annual Inspection Services

Our Annual Inspection services include the following:

  • Review of System Logbook and previous Inspection / Test Reports.

  • Ensure existing Engineer approved roof plan reflects "As-Built" conditions.

  • Analysis of anchor layout per existing drawing to confirm all window drops are adequately covered.

  • Visual inspection of each anchor point to ensure installation compliance and no evidence of tampering.

  • A check of each anchor component to ensure soundness and integrity of connection to supporting structure.

  • Identify any hazardous or restricted rooftop areas where Fall Protection is to be employed.

  • A detailed "Annual Inspection Report" outlining the results of our findings.

  • Where maintenance work is required, we provide a detailed list of recommendations to allow for pricing of necessary repairs.

Custom Rigging Equipment, i.e. Monorails, Roof Cars, Gantries, etc.:  Our expertise extends to inspection and review of technically complex systems. Our competence in this regard is further augmented by association with other leading industry professionals.

Existing Systems Overview

Does your anchorage system have problematic rigging issues?  Some of the concerns facing the window cleaning industry include:

  • non-structural parapet walls
  • glass railings
  • solariums
  • gas pipelines

These are only a few examples when existing anchorage systems require an overview for necessary upgrade.

Have an existing Roof Anchor System but no documentation on file?

Many older installations may no longer comply with current safety guidelines or equipment standards. With our years of experience and knowledge of virtually every product type in this industry, we can immediately inform you whether it may be necessary to add, upgrade, refurbish or replace an anchorage system or portions thereof to safely carry out Window Cleaning / Facade Maintenance work.

Our comprehensive report and drawings will provide you with an overview of the existing system and recommendations and/or necessary improvements.
